Little Ghosts

One of us, wrapped up in the other says ‘I made you up’ which is a good thing to say. But I do not know which one of us is speaking, the world scatters in a puddle’s reflection. All the lights are behind our eyes are but the twinkling of a star’s obituary, cause of death, which reads: swallowed, too much light. One of us is speaking. One of us is singing lullabies to all the little ghosts of things that crawl at our feet. ‘I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.’ One of us carefully does not say.

Your shadow is moving again flickering as if there were candlelight under your feet but you don’t stand in fire Your eyes are deep again farther down than the Marina Trench do you really want to know what’s below the depths of light? Your tongue is stilled from languages that never seem to come out right a hundred thousand lifetimes and you still don’t have a name The lightning of the stars has been calling you supernovae explode, calling out for you a comet has come to bring you back home dust to dust they say, but what about water to ice? Draw in your breath from a thousand lifetimes and look up to find your way home.

The Sun is exploding outward red gas and dust are all around us now I always said I was one for heat even if we both silently agreed that autumn’s red sun would paint the world in all the colors we ever needed Your petals are too soft for my nose your lips should not form words like that caramel-smoked honey-dripping amber-colored words how could you possibly deny the curious passerby a touch of your sweet self? thorns come with the territory, and if I bleed, I will bleed red for you The stars are shooting overhead as we watch the dust streaked sky comet tails are rocketing behind us ‘would you leave, if you could?’ I ask

beyond the curve of the sky lights are shining breathing gets you nowhere out there and eternity seems just moments away you ache and yearn to have your body dissolved into dust just to watch it fade away just to go out further than you’ve ever gone it’s not too dark out here in the depths of space you don’t need much when the space around you is farther than an electron from its nucleus the center of things never promised to be the closest and flights to the edges seem neverending

I said that I’d always be a fool for you I don’t think I’ve gone back on my word, yet colorful thoughts are leaking from your ears and here I am wishing for paper so that I could jot you down and keep everything the way it is right now I have ink dripping from my fingertips again I wonder if this is what love poems and sonnets and ballads feels like to a heart breath comes slow as ever dragging onwards, carrying the moments until the day I see you and all my words catch in the hollow of my throat until you kiss them out one by one

The light moves slowly in pools and splashes lazily, almost glowing softly golden all the while Precious metals and sparkling gems all treasured things to be sure counting them up one by one and keeping them all The cascading light is not so easily kept and it washes from your fingers in moments try as you might the slithering gold rushes away from you like water from an upturned glass You look to the west and perhaps in the other directions as well you do not know what you are looking for now that your pretty amber light has left you Come here or go home and stay awhile and rest now

To come back around again

I has been... a long time. I feel like I don't know my way around here. Like I walked into an old dusty house and everything has been moved. Moved in, with sheets covering all of the old furniture or moved out with only the dust mites to keep me company. To those little critters prowling around this place, thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. This is a place I have known, and so I will try to make it habitable again. To than end, hello. I am not known very well for remembering to ritually check certain things, but I must ask, just how did I end up getting over 11,000 pageviews? I suppose it's just a little mind boggling to think that so many people have looked at my page and saw my poems. Anyways good news for the recent goers because I am almost done with finals, and therefore that means more time to write! And breathe, can't forget the wonderful ability of breathing. I hope you all had a good semester and/or fall season. Good luck to everyone who needs a bit of luck and everyone who doesn't but wants it anyways.
